Yura and Tanya Sokolovsky

In addition to the YWAM base eldership role, both Yura and Tanya are directors of Family Ministry for YWAM in Eastern Europe. They have been counselors and teachers of Biblical principles to struggling families and individuals for the past 15 years. They have served as missionary’s with YWAM KYIV since 1993. Yura and Tanya understand families in Easter Europe. They are from Eastern Europe, have been married for over 17 years and are the parents of two boys – Arthur and Mark. Their desire is to serve families in Ukraine and Eastern Europe –
to bring hope, healing and wholeness, to see:

Nations restored – One family at a time.

Divorce
According to the statistical data for 2009, in Ukraine, approximately 50% of the marriages ended in divorce. Statistics show that 1/3 of the families that end in divorce do so in the first four years of marriage. 30% of the families break up after five years.

Abortion
As of 2004 women in Ukraine have made more than 323,000 abortions in one year,
even young girls between the ages of 10-14 made up 0,06% of abortions.
15-17 years made up 2.5%
18-34 years old with 80.5%, of all abortions
35-49 years old about 16.9%

The average numbers of abortions a woman will have are 8-12 within their life time.
Cohabitation, alcohol, drugs, abuse and many other things are trying to destroy the
beauty of the family

We believe there is hope for Ukraine, Eastern Europe and post Soviet countries.
