AID TO EASTERN UKRAINE
As you probably know, the situation in Eastern Ukraine is unstable and unpredictable. Several thousand people have been killed and many hundreds more have died during the recent “cease fire”. In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions (SE Ukraine) many people are living without heat, electricity or hot water. The war has moved a bit further east and though the fighting has stopped in some areas, the damage that it has left behind continues to wage its own war on normal everyday life. The fighting and insecurity is more than enough to create a bad situation, but the added cold of a Ukrainian winter only serves to make a bad situation worse.
We as YWAM Ukraine are committed to
reach out to those in need in eastern Ukraine.
At this time the needs are great. Winter clothes (for soldiers and civilians alike); medicines (especially things like hard to find insulin); materials for the repair of homes and apartments as well as for setting up refugee shelters; heaters and blankets; diapers and other basic hygiene supplies. All of these are needed. Many of these things we can find in Western Ukraine and take to the east, we simply need the finances to do so. Some of these things (coats, blankets, diapers, heaters etc) may also be shipped into Ukraine from other western countries in humanitarian aid containers. We also need people who are willing to come and serve – especially those with skills in carpentry (wood and brick), electricity, gas and plumbing. If you don’t have specific construction related skills don’t worry, there is still much that needs to be done. Administration skills are needed; help with logistics, teams and much more.
Do you have construction skills and would like to help?
Do you have an outreach team looking for an opportunity to serve?
Is administration or logistics more your cup of tea? Let us know.
The needs are great, but our God is greater. Be a part of His greatness!
